Clinics & Services
In addition to our normal appointments we provide the following services, some of which other surgeries can also refer patients to:
- Chronic disease clinics such as asthma, diabetes, heart disease and COPD
- Antenatal and postnatal care
- Contraceptive coil and implant clinics
- Childhood Immunsations and travel vaccinations
- Minor surgery including BCC excision and carpal tunnel releases
- Specialist GP cardiology service
Nurse Clinics
The nursing team at Snodland have a wide range of skills and run special clinics for management of diabetes, asthma and COPD as well as contraception and wound dressings.
Additionally our nurses are trained to treat minor illnesses and injuries. Some of the ailments the nurses can deal with are as follows:
- Cystitis, urine infection
- Ear infections
- Eye infections
- Boils, abscesses, cellulitis and skin infections
- Ingrowing toenails
- Hay fever
- Sore throat, Tonsillitis
Referrals
If your GP thinks it necessary, you will be referred to a consultant. Your doctor will discuss with you what choices of hospital are available, and you may be able to arrange an appointment at your convenience through Choose and Book.
Drug and Alcohol Advice
As well as speaking to your doctor or nurse for advice, you are able to contact the local drug and alcohol service directly.
They are called Change, Grow, Live and their local base is in Maidstone. You can contact them on 01622 690 944
Quit Smoking
If you want to stop smoking you can makean appointment to discuss options with your doctor but to have the best chance of successfully quitting you should use the local stop smoking clinic. You can access this for free by calling them on 0300 123 1220 or texting 'Quit' to 87023. Please see their poster below
Travel Clinic
If you require any vaccinations relating to foreign travel you need to make an appointment with the practice nurse to discuss your travel arrangements. This will include which countries and areas within countries that you are visiting to determine what vaccinations are required.
Weight Loss
Tonbridge & Malling Healthy Living Team currently run an 11 week programme called Counterweight and one of the locations used is Snodland Community Centre. It promotes behavioural strategies, which seek to change eating habits, activity levels, sedentary behaviours and thinking processes that contribute to an individual becoming overweight or obese. The programme promotes active weight loss for three to six months, followed by long term weight loss maintenance.It costs just £15 which is fully refunded on completion of the programme. To be eligible for the programme you need a Body Mass Index (BMI) of 28 or more.
Health Walks
A 30 minute health walk departs from the surgery every Thursday at 11.30am. This is a free, group led walk run by dedicated, trained volunteers.
This offers the perfect opportunity to help you get active and meet new people.
